# iPhone 2g question.

I am helping my friend jailbreak/hack what have you, his 2g. Now it is no longer part of a service provider, it has no service. It only lets me do “emergency call.” All I need is to figure out what version it is running before I redsnow it. Is there an easy way to find out? If not, I am just going to run the app, and see what happens. Not a big deal really, its not mine, lol.

I really dont want to DL iTunes, so I got “SharePod” but because this is an iphone, it says I need iTunes 7 or later. I really, really, do not want to put ANYTHING Apple on my pc… But there is probably no way around this, unless someone knows how?
