# Is there a way to raise the BASE volume of an mp3?

some of the songs on my computer are much quieter than others on the same settings… is there a way to raise the volume, so that when I make an mp3 a ringtone, its louder than usual?

absolutely, soundforge will do it etc. Might have to do some messing around to avoid clipping, but its an easy process.

download “MP3gain”

measures DB of all the MP3s on your computer

adjusts accordingly
