because they dont run off an alternator? the dirt modified we run doesnt use an alternator either. it puts parasitic drag on the motor which is detrimental in racing applications. im sure its even more noticeable on a small 4 cyl than it is on a 650hp v8 ---

i like that idler setup on the top of the timing belt to keep the lash down at high rpm ---

yea the modifieds ive worked on never had alternators, they were magnetos IIRC… never ran an alternator on my pro stock either… ---
