A 17 year old kid probably shouldn’t be able to afford a car like that…but I feel at that age I had a good idea of how to shop for a good car and find one cheap, and I was a pretty cheapass that saved all his money religiously in hopes of getting a Nogaro B5 S4 (I didn’t know ennough when I started saving at 15 that I wouldn’t ever afford one). I had a really solid job from a young age, and I paid for over half the car in cash when i did buy it. But when my best friend buys a new car and it breaks drastically all the time with nothing but a boost controller and gauge…I say fuck these cars. Your engine issue is not “VW reliability.” You did a lot to your 'raddo and I respect that, and I also know no matter the car, you WILL have issues when you dive deep like that. Look at newman’s 240. It was done right and it still had issues, and it’s considered to be made by a reliable manufacturer (Nissan). But when you have cars that are failing off the lots, and my car had tons of other issues (the transmission was the nail in the coffin) beforehand, I feel the need to express my opinion of these cars as negative. I still love all you dubber guys, and I still love a lot of the cars. I honestly am not trying to be a dick either. I’m just fed up, and I don’t want to own one anymore. ---

LOL\* one thing I have learned is once you mod one car your sucked in for life. After my Jetta got totaled I told my self over and over again I would never do it again. The Audi was to stay stock. Now look at it… I’ll bet you a $100 bucks no matter what you buy you will end up getting some goodies for it… But good luck with what ever you end up getting… ---

I agree with you a 101% on that… I guess people just dont understand… You gotta pay to play… I had a 91 Jetta as a DD that had well over 200k on it. The only thing that broke on it after 2 years of beating on it, was the radiator rotted out. And my 92 that I had a ton of crap done to really never had anything major other then the heater core going… I can honestly say out of all the German cars I have owned (81 Scirocco, 91 Jetta, 92 Jetta, and 01 A4) I have never had any major issues with… I also have owned a 91 Civic and my POS Montero and they are your basic shiters where the nickel and dime you. But thats a what a POS is for, a POS. It all comes down to maintenance and how you take care of them… Just my .02 ---

I am sympathetic, sounds like a general bummer all around. Not trying to start an argument, but this is, to me, a case in point for the proposition that domestics, especially OHV V-8’s are THE cars to mod. OEM replacement grade stuff is cheap, and readily available. Tons of performance parts. For example: I have been buying big-block Chevy parts recently. Currently, I am looking at pistons. It’s astonishing how many brands/types/grades of BBC pistons there are out there. Everything from a $200 OEM replacement set to an $800+ dollar set of custom forged pieces. ---

You’re just as much at fault for the problems you have had with your a4 as audi/the car is. ---
