just heard about this now, after stepping down from power to battle his cancer, Jack Layton has sadly passed away now. ☹ This guy actually got me into learning a bit about Canadian politics. Seems like he was about as straight of a shooter as they come for a politician and I identified with his political views. RIP. Fuck cancer. ---

yeah there are so few politicians that lead a party for as long as he did. i don’t know much about his politics but i do understand why he was so revered. He led the NDP party for many terms and increased their scope 7-fold in his tenure i heard over the radio. it’s a shame he passed so quickly after his major victory earlier this year. Or, depending on how you look at it, it’s great that he lived long enough to have such an impact. They party has no #2 though. He should have been working on that ---
