Anyone here speak hebrew? I bought some banksy artwork from israel and im 95% sure glorious american customs has taken them. can someone track my package for me on israel post website? I don’t understand the scribbles RR221192638IL is the tracking number. ---

Yup according to my translations it looks like customs has taken it and either returned to sender or destroyed it. Im gonna go with the latter, sorry about your bad luck. ---

Can someone explain the legal side of this? International customs can do this without notifying the sender/recipient? ---

Typically the Broker will contact the recipient to try and prevent packages from getting delayed by attempting to obtain the information needed to make entry with US Customs BEFORE it arrives into the states. Once it has arrived into the states and that information hasn’t been recieved then they have a grace period where they work with not only the importer but the sender as well. If the information is not obtained within X amount of time then the package will get sent back to the shipper. Customs also can randomly seize/detain any package they want, whether they have reason to or if its at random. I deal with people all the time that have packages detained by Customs for a month if not more at a time. In this case it looks like they didn’t have a Broker it went direct from IL Post Office Services to US Customs. Your best bet is to see if USPS has an International department and go from there.
