There are plenty of us who do not consider the Bible to be fiction. The life of Jesus is well documented in other sources, some aspects being disputed, but his life and existence. I do not propose that the Bible is taught in school in any way, but I don’t like seeing evolution taught either. If Evolution is true, which ethnicity is the “least evolved”? And why do species stop at such distinct levels? Why don’t we have partway evolved animals more often, and why don’t I see ANY people that look partially like primates? It has plenty of holes in it as well, kids need to learn about banking and history, and not through the rose-colored lense that those subjects are taught today. Even though I’m a Christian, we don’t actually disagree on separation of church and state. I just don’t see how we can justify teaching anything about the origins of man in public schools. It is a subject of major debate, it’s not like gravity or algebra. The way history is taught in public school is screwed up enough, people need to stop wasting time arguing about stupid subjects like this. The Bible did not outline the setting up of the practice of slavery, it merely set certain rules around the practice that already existed. Kind of like the Constitution of this country…just a long time beforehand. Should we scrap the whole Constitution because it was written at a time when slavery was legal, and black people were only considered 3/5 of a person? ---

This book is supposed to have come down to man FROM GOD, to teach us how to live our lives. So if it DOES NOT abolish slavery, OBVIOUSLY it condones it. I mean are you fucking serious? What I find funny is the people supporting it are sitting here having a typical discussion where as the non-supporters like to attack in their remarks. Besides If you want to get technical Mike, half of what you quoted fall under the old covenant which did not apply to modern era (aka AD). Just throwing that out there since you seem to know enough. ---

I read the Bible and believe what is in it. Kurt was trying to say that you can pull a few verses out of context and make them sound like something different from a book that covers as many topics and as long a time period as the Bible. Darkstar didn’t actually open a Bible, he hit google and found a reliable source… [evilbible.com](http://evilbible.com) If you’d like to debate contradictions, that site is full of them. Take any verse it quotes (notice that it constantly changes which translation of the Bible it chooses to use) and read the full passage in King James or New International and see if you still like that site as a source. Here’s some other unbiased work from that site… “Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock.” Psalms 137:9 NAB Not only is their grammar questionable…it’s actually a complete distortion of the actual verse. That one verse is part of a larger section, and that line quotes the values of the Israelite’s captors, who are shown as evil in that same passage. Feel free to read the entire chapter, Psalm 137, and you will see how easy it is to take things out of context and distort the meaning. If you had a serious interest and wanted to know more, I would gladly talk with you about the Bible and the alleged contradictions that you see within it. It is not something I take lightly however, and I don’t see anything constructive coming from your comments and the google verse cherry picking so I will not continue this on here. ---
