# Just Got A Bike ... And I Already Need Your Help!

I picked up a 93’ Suzuki Katana the other day and just got it on the road. I was driving it today and all of a sudden the tach stopped working, the turn signals don’t work, and my rear brake light don’t work either. I don’t know what happen. I checked the fuses and they are all good. Any other ideas on where to start looking for the problem?

Just start with the basics, check over all electrical connections and trace wiring, maybe something just popped loose or perhaps got corroded enough to not make a solid connection anymore

pinched wires are common on them, but take of the front farings and about the headlights there are 3 connectors, one is clear, that is most of your lighting.

john, last night while checking out the bike everything was working at first, but then that right hand signal knocked out. i peeked down behind the gauges down the front fairing and there are wires hangin around in there, i bet stuff came unconnected or loose. check it out. and find me a cheap katana lol

dont waste your time with katana’s not even fun after the first week of riding it. i rode my friends and i guess it was cool just really really boring

the first sport bike i rode was a katana… i put 30 miles on it and had a blast… if you’ve ridden 10k miles on a liter bike i could imagine an early 90’s katana would feel docile… but for a first bike its is more than adequate… :tup: to taking the right course of action to motorcycling… if only others could be so wise
take a test light to the lead before the bulb if nothing, check by harness… if nothing… check the ecu… if nothing test the switches… eliminate each possible cause first… then go from there

i agree with willybeen, its a great starter bike, even though its a bit much for someone that has never touched a bike before being a 600cc…but we couldnt find him a kawi ninja250 quickly/cheaply enough. i have yet to toss this thing around the block. maybe this weekend

an older katana is more like a new ninja 500 as far as power goes. no where near as powerful as a new ss bike… this bike should be perfect for learning on… post up some pics

you obviously didn’t catch the rolling my eyes icon at the end of my comment. katanas are great starter bikes, i rode one for two years before moving up to something else. i just love listening to people who think unless its the biggest, fastest, newest bike out there its garbage even though they are usually the same people who will get beat in the corners by the guy on a 500cc.
