It is stupid, but will bring more people out to race. The tire really isnt any advantage at a nice prepped track.

Boy the drag tire makers would hate to hear that. 😉
Some mods make cars not technically street legal but there is no way someone is going to drive around on race tires.
Just sayin.

You didn’t really get my point. Changing to an all out slick at the track isn’t going to make a 12 second car magically a 10 second car. There are cars going faster on a 275 radial then anyone on this site will go in their lifetime on any tire. In this situation if letting people change tires at the track brings 3-4 more cars then who cares.
And a ton of people drive around on race tires. Joelster has been on bias ply bicycle tires for at least 2 years. I run drag radials on the street, Choda runs slicks on the street. Very common to do this.
Just Sayin.
Pretty much the only rules are drive to the track, make some passes, then drive home.

It will make a huge difference in a FWD car…
