# Life Events leads. Sales guys check in.

Some of the most common events where people seek out a financial advisor occur when people do some of the following.
-Inherit money
-Buy a house
-Have a child
-Get married
etc etc…
aside from the newspaper, are there any lists that are made public online? websites?
I know some are going to cost money, but the majority of this information is on public record, so if you have any success with any of the pay sites, id be more than happy to check them out.

honestly, the newspaper is going to be your best lead. inheritance usually is not going to be in public record… but the newspaper will cover your bases for the rest of that stuff.
you could search the buffalo news online as well.

we looked into a financial advisor for a family issue… and i did not like what they wanted to set up… it was better to hold the $$ and look into a good budget person

I work for New York Life, but I am a private contractor/captive agent. So in essence, I’m on their payroll, but I work for myself. lol.

accurint is pretty effective at public record scrubs.
You can narrow by area, age range, etc.
It is a paid service, IDK the cost.

Ever look into the services that you pay for leads?
I just worked with 2 friends who started a investment company and I just did their online programming and backend but I remember they paying a company for leads and it worked out pretty decent. Also they went to a lot of benefits (usually $50-$100 events) and just socialized and networked with people.

Yea… thats pretty much what I’ve been doing. I just figured instead of blind mailing to keep the company happy with me, It would be more beneficial to get a select target of people. (I hate cold calling, I hate cold callers, I hate pushy sales guys. When i started hear, I established that that would never be a part of my business plan. HOWEVER, If i send a mailer to a group of leads and they follow up with me, I’d be more than happy to sit down with them and go over some options) I deal mainly with referals, I’m a firm believer in “do well with one client and they will recommend your services whenever they get a chance.” So far, so good. Thanks everyone.
I’m looking into the pay sites, I just want to keep it as local as possible.
