how can i install windows 98 on a linux machine i have no clue how to work it and its driving me nuts :dunno: ---

why would you want to do that? if you want to run most windows applications donwload wine… what linux distro are you running? ---

its for my friend and its not that we’re trying to run windows apps cant figure anything out lol so he just wants to put windows on it and as for the distro im gonna guess you mean linspire ---

linspire wtf? Never heard of it. depends on what kind of install he did with it fdisk or disdruid blah blah… usualy all youll have to do is install the windows 98 partition of the linux partition and you should be fine. ---

the machine came with it, it was a gift so i didnt install it so im clueless on where anything is at on this machine ---

it’s just the hard drive format… create a win 98 startup disc, boot, and format the drive… then install 98 ---

any formatting will work… a win 98 disc won’t see the partition? i use data eraser… i’d just put another hd in as master, boot it and install whatever and then format the linux as a slave, if i were out of options. ---

is there anyway to just erase the hd and then reinstall win 98 ? when i inserted the 98 disk since i dont know much about linux i tried to just run the 98 disk like i was upgrading windows but it wouldnt even read it is there a command prompt like windows ? if so how do i get there and what commands do i use to wipe the hd after i erase it, it wont be any different than installing windows on any other machine right ? ---

Everyone stfu! lol j/k. But no you can’t use stoneage windows and expect to be able to format it. Hey if you want to pick up that laptop ur asking me about i can hook that pc up for you while ur here. I run a WINXP/KUBUNTU Linux system and know more than enough to get that computer up in running or at least able to install windows in a matter of minutes. I have a setup here i can swap the drive out and use Partition Magic(Love on a computer) to format the drive for you. ---
