i guarantee you the person who got so “offended” by this and started this whole campain isn’t even retarded themselves. which basically would be making a big deal out of nothing imho, so yes, i really believe its a waste of time.

and i’m not sitting around doing nothing, i just went back to school full time this past semester thank you very much 😛

I guarantee a lot of people who advocate anti-racist action aren’t minorities.

Are they wasting their time?

And going to school is an attempt to better yourself.  
Pushing a campaign like this is an attempt to better the “world”  
(That’s how they see it anyway)

I’m not defending the campaign. I think it’s trivial.

I’m just defending the idea that people pushing these trivial things are doing SOMETHING.  
A lot of us, myself included, do NOTHING.

I appreciate their effort, whether or not I appreciate their cause.

How do you know that?

You might see someone like Stephen Hawking roll by in his wheelchair and think to yourself “fucking retard”, but in reality, he’s smarter than anyone else on this board.

Physical retardation does not preclude someone from supporting a cause, nor does mental retardation.

Also, a lot of you guys seem to be under the assumption that someone who is mental retarded is incapable of understanding the word, or even having feelings.

LOL idk, if i saw someone rolling around with a computer attached to their wheelchair i wouldnt call the a retard, nor do i say to myself if i see a slow person “fuckin retard” or if i see a black person “fuckin nnnnnn”

I’ve talked with retarded kids before, and they live as if nothing is wrong. obviously they get special treatment, but they dont think it’s special, because it is an everyday thing

When a black person gets called a name, they are told what it means, (unless they are like 5), when a retarded person hears the word “retard” they are not explained that “oh hunny, someone just called you slow, dumb, incapable, etc etc”

Again i don;t have a problem with them fighting, but the whole idea of R-Word is just; for lack of a better term, Retarded.

see in my mind, why is it that the “mentally challenged” are automatically linked (by the people starting this campain) to the word retard. when i use the word retard, i’m not taking a stab at one of those people. to me, its just another word for “stupid” or “silly” or “pointless”. by making such a huge fuss about this, they are just making it worse really lol

know what i’m trying to say? i don’t know if that came out exactly right
