# Locking up brakes

Th eother day I missed an accident by very little, I slammed on the brakes and it was fine a for bit, but then they locked up, now this got me to thinking, I’m about the install 30mm Z brakes up front + MC (they r in my room) and thought would that just means the brake will lock up faster and i’ll have in turn less braking power?

They will lockup faster if you slam them on.  
If you want to vastly improve your braking power, better tires along with your Z brakes. Maybe look into a wider rim/tire combo.

Also you could work on your threshold braking.

Z brakes + tires + mad skills = brake master.

Your brakes lock up when the tires give out. If you’re brakes were able to lock up, its the tires that need to be upgraded.

But Z32 brakes + good tires = uberstopping

yep, learning to modulate the brakes to get the most out of your set up is key.

all to often poor drivers fail to react and become “target fixated” (looking at what they are going to hit) and enevitably hit th ething because well, their driving skills are poor.
