decided to tear out the carpets in the living room… here is what we found

It’s in pretty decent shape
were there a lot of holes at the edges from putting down the carpet?

the holes are barely even noticeable

from what i can tell it is in the bedrooms as well but we… i have not pulled up the carpet in there yet

i should also probably add that these are the original hardwood floors from 1880

You should pull up the hardwood to see if there is carpet underneath :mamoru:

I found the same in my living room. Now I just need to pull up the pink carpet and get someone to refinish them.

looks awesome, our floors were like that when we ripped out the old carpet, but they glued the pad directly to the hardwood and my dad didnt feel like sanding off all of it to refinish so we ended up getting new carpets instead.

Be glad yours are in that good of shape… I pulled my carpets up and mine are TRASHED!!! to the point where I’m just living with them as I remodel the rest of the house and in the end they’re going to get torn out and replaced; not worth the effort and cost to try and repair mine…

it was quite a bit louder until we found an are type rug for it (i have two kids and don’t want them destroying it)

what did you use for finishing them ?? I just tore my carpets outta the house and found the floors in great shape too … ive been applying murphys oil and letting it soak in to bring the shine back … but curious on hearing other ideas
