# Looking for the best tattoo artist in buffalo?

i use taylor held at hyperion and i recommend everyone to go there, iv been to a few other places around but hes done my sleeve and it looks fantastic. not argueing with HOD tho, they put out some top notch work as well

I would trust:
HOD
Devine machine
Redhouse
The wait is going to be long (7 months for mf gf’s) at redhouse, but its well worth it
A fellow co-worker got a camo American flag tattoo (hes a big navy guy) at hyperion tattoo and it looks HORRIBLE. Not sure who did it, but I would def stay away from there

I honestly wish people would take more pride in tattoos and do research. I see tons of people post their “Sweet Tattoos” from shitty places and they just look awful. I’ve posted in plenty in the shitty tattoo thread from just facebook “friends”.

I would be curious who did the work, Steve and Joel are solid at Hyperion. Also worth noting, I’ve seen over the years customers that ignore artist warnings on designs that won’t translate well to skin. A camo flag is a design I would imagine to have some quirks.

HOD, Divine Machine, Beyond Divine Machine. Only places I would trust with any sort of work.
I would stay FAR AWAY from Carls’s, American Skin Art, MadTatt2 or whatever and MadTiki as well. I’ve only seen horrible would come out of those shops with the exception of ONE tattoo that looked OK from Carl’s.

il post up what i have had done there after work, and i think redhouse is overrated, its nice, the work is good, but they charge L.A. ink prices. there not famous or that amazing to me. and just a side note, stay far away from east coast inc. they messed up my ankle and my girlfriend wanted the word promise on her pinkey finger and they wrote romise lol. plus iv heard many other horror storys.

Stylin’ Tattoo on Harlem is also on the avoid list. Pretty much trash that goes in and trash that comes out. They did a terrible job on my sister-in-laws foot.

I personally like two artists work.
Cheape from Nickel City, great line work, color work and it holds up forever.

There’s enough information in this thread but I’ll say +1 for HOD. Narrow it down to a few artists, go look at their portfolio’s and see what best matches what you’re going for. Good luck :tup:

Bumping this because my wife says I need my horrible arm band from the 90’s covered up lol. I agree. I want a ship on my arm with no color, so lots of lines and shadowing. Something like the pic I will post. Who specializes in this sort of work?

Josh, Marcus and Kyle at HOD all have walk in days during the week and I recommend any of the above to tattoo you.
Chris and Jon are pretty much appointment only and pretty far out for appointments.

So I wanted to add something small to the heart I have on my Tricep, I’m getting some headphones and a frequency signal added to it. Anyways, I originally went to floating lotus and the heart turned out as expected, but I wasn’t crazy about the rest of his work.
So I checked out the three shops mentioned here that can be found on elmwood:
Checked out MaddTattoo (or however it’s spelled) - Two guys rolling blunts on the front patio, inside reeks of weed, girl at counter barely speaks to me and without eye contact points to the books on the table, FAIL.
HOD - Very clean and the girl at the desk was polite and showed me the artwork, so far this is the place I wanted to go to.
Divine - Last stop, walked in, three guys hanging out at the counter, all super friendly, asking about what I wanted, personally showing me the books and flipping through the pages, then took me in the back and showed me around their shop. Spoke to a gentlemen Joel who was tattooing a customer but took a 2 minute break (with the customer’s permission) to speak to me and show him what I already have. He gave me all sorts of ideas, made me extremely comfortable, and his artwork is top notch. Left my 50$ deposit and I go back the 26th of this month. Extremely Hospitable and Professional, granted I still have to get my work done, but I can’t imagine things would go awry. As of now I would totally recommend this place, but will update when the work is done.
