# Looking to straight pipe, who can do it

Before you say anything, I tried mufflerman. They looked at it, and gave me a quote for $400+ to chop off the mufflers and weld in 3" piping, to dual 3" exhaust tips.
That was too rich for my blood, considering I may hate the sound - so I bailed.
So, besides mufflerman, who else can do it. It looks fairly simple.
Heres a pic of one that was done for $135

dan at amton auto on delaware right by the 290. his stuff is WAY better than mufflerman for a cheaper cost too. can do regular or stainless.
if you want to straightpipe, buy the tips you want and bring it with, he has the piping, rods, and everything to make hangers and such. will make sure you’re ok with where everything is positioned before he welds it up.

Every cutout video Ive seen makes it sound horrible under load. Not sure if its the length of the exhaust that helps get rid of the rasp, but straight cutouts make it sound too “blatty”

i’d expect that sound out of a 97 silverado with a 350…not a MB

As far as I knew he was done? At least the shop I went to a few years back is now closed up…and I’m sorry but I have to disagree with your claim to his quality of work. I had both the '55 Chevy and my '93 SHO done…both done at a low cost but both also had issues to deal with later on. The '55 interfered with the rear leaf spring, knocking over every bump. I ended up just cutting the tailpipes off. Weak welds on my SHO lead to premature rusting and replacement of piping after 1 winter.

Dan at AmTon has moved his shop down the road to a bigger building, he is just north of the 290 now, the old TTR Automotive, next to the Plaza with Key Bank and Rite-Aid (across the street from the car wash place- Dr Huggs???). I would recommend him, he has done the exhaust on my Daytona and Omni and he’s a great guy. Call him at 564-9010

^^^yes. he moved to a bigger shop. and he does good work, if there is an issue he would have no problem resolving it. he did the exhaust on my bmw as i cant do stainless at home. i have also seen the work he did on my buddy’s trucks and showcar, as well as a fully stainless dual exhaust on a '62 caddy from the headers back(a car that never came from the factory with duals, he got it all tucked nice and clean. i wouldnt hesitate to have him do an exhaust.

I went to that guy today, Im going to go with him. He didnt have any 3" inlet tips on him so I ordered some online and he will do the work for me when they come in. Ill report back with results but his pricing was more reasonable.
