i got an LS6 cam i’ll sell. Thats about as “wild” as you can go without replacing springs and retainers.

Yea but your supposed to rev the LS6 to 6500…and stock valve springs your not supposed to go past 6100…

Put some stupid big cam in and spray a 150 shot and it will still out last that crap motor it came with…

:word: if you are going through all the trouble of a motor swap, would an extra couple hundred really hurt to get a bigger cam and the needed springs and retainers? You can pick up some used ones off of LS1tech.

dont be a bitch. It will be easy as hell to do with the motor just sitting there. And you know a little while after you get it running you will start wanting to mod it and kick yourself in the ass for not doing the cam swap when you had the motor out

If you end up doing the cam swap its probably a good idea to replace the oil pump if its coming out of a 98 car.
BTW just to tempt you this is a rediculous price…

If you want some balls and not crazy horse power call comp cams and they will but you a new one, but go with the 7-4 swap and just change your wires. The 7-4 swap cam is pretty nice a friend of mine put one in his car and made like 44hp more at the wheels, but you can go all out just tell comp cams what you want you lobes set at and your sepperation and all that shit they will custom make you a really nice one for like 400 bucks or so .

You are talking abot the 4/7 swap cam for conventional firing order SBC’s and LT1’s. LS1’s fire totally different. To my knowledge there are no aftermarket cams for an LS1 that alter the firing order, there is no point.
Daddie—wait til you find out how easy it is to swap an LS1 cam. You don’t even have to remove the intake manifold. You take off the rockers/pushrods, and spin the cam. All of the lifters are held up in their lifter trays, allowing you to pull the cam out.

the lifters “should” stay…if one of them happens to fall…then ur not gonna be happy…lol. id rather take the extra 20 minute to take the intake off to take out the lifters to save that possible headache. but yea, teh swap is very easy.
