# LS1 rear end is in!! Thanks to a few ppl lol

Well first off, i wanna thank Pewter (brian) for finding me a really nice 3.42 geared LS1 rearend. and i wanna thank Eurodad/Chevydad (Don) for using his truck to deliver that rearend. i owe you buddy! lol
I got the rear end in yesterday cuz my stock 9 bolt posi broke…inside spider gears are in a few pieces! lol
the installation was fairly easy…only concern was the brake line, which Brian told me should work…and it did! You can see that thread where i was asking about that.
bleed the brakes the best i could…only problem was that the passenger side front bleeder would NOT come undone. i ended up roundin the nut off a good bit so now i dont know what i’m gonna do. i just bleed the 3 others just to get the car to stop. it stops ok, but i bet it will be better with alittle more bleeding. i never did that before so i dont know if i did it right. but it stops now.
only thing needs done now is LCA relocation brackets and parking brake cables
the test drive was fun…its definately got abit more kick in it, and definately a posi rear end!! lol
took me longer than expected but heres some pics. the rearend is about 3 inches wider overall than my 9 bolt…so you can see how the rear tires stick out abit more…even with the fender lip. it doesnt look bad, just sorta looks like i have some big tires out back but only 245’s LOL
and heres a before with the ET streets on to see how much it sticks out

i got a 350 TPI motor…just headers and gutted air intake/homemade ram air…nothin special at all. will be doing the LT1 intake tho. the car is beggin for a LS1 tho

i still got alot of cleaning underneath to do…still some dirt and old oil left behind from that year and a half long oil leak. haha… and all the suspension parts are covered with my greasy hand prints. just minor details lol

thanks, yeah its pretty much full suspension right now. just need sub frame connectors… and its full suspension. my stock sway bars are huge enough as it is so i just painted them red to match the rest. only thing i’d like to add is tubular front end with tubular k member and A arms but i dont really need that yet
i’m buildin it from the ground up…and i like handling alot too.

Good work… now you can run a 4th Gen. offset rear wheel to take care of the stickin’ out wheels. I guess the catch is finding wheels made for both 3rd and 4th Gens. so you can get the right offsets for the front/rear. Either that or run 4th Gen all around and a big bolt-on style spacer in the front.

Thats the plan…i want 17x11 grand sport Zr1’s on the rear and the 9.5inches up front with spacer. should work out great!
then i’ll probly get a 12 bolt rear for a 4th gen as well and keep the wheels. i really want to upgrade to something like CCW’s or something
