Certainly is. Poor dude’s down with bronchitis after a trip to Durham for parts yesterday. I haven’t the heart to wake up a sick guy sleeping on a creeper, so I’ll call him later. Works reDonkulous hours, at least 110ish a week :tdown: Can’t wait! Hope this swap with K-member, trans, ECU, etc is still available. Very aware of how insane the deal is. On a lighter note, anyone need an MSD Opti, Taylor wires, or a Gatorback belt? 60mi on all of them 🙂 ---

Ugh. Still haven’t heard back from the guy who had the swap in Greenville, NC. Something tells me that if he was willing to go that cheap, he’s prolly sold it by now if he was strapped. Would love to do the LS1 swap, but damn… if this deal doesn’t work out… Labor on another LS1 w/6spd wouldn’t be bad, but I’m not in a position to spend 4Kish on a different engine, trans and whatever else you need, in addition to the aforementioned 1K labor. As much as I don’t like the idea compared to the alternative, I’m considering having a 383 LT1 built when I get the chance to price things out. Or even just the 350, with decent internals. Above all, I just want the car running again, what I bought it to do. Doesn’t have to be redonk fast, I just want a trustworthy shortblock if nothing else. Dammit. Why don’t I have a cheaper hobby? :touchy: ---

having stock LT1 rebuilt nothing special then drive it til late spring then sell it and get an '01/'02 black or white trans am WS-6 with 6spd/LS1. I fucking hate LT1s and will never buy one again. EDIT: yeah, I’m aware that other cars spin bearings, too… but having gotten less than 1K mi out of the last two LT1s I’ve owned is redonkulous. ---

A little late for that. Have yet to hear anything bad about the MSD opti that’s in it’s place. Not planning on keeping it forever, either. Was waiting for your .02, I was expecting much different than that 🙂 Why do you like the factory opti?? I’ve yet to hear much anything good about it, except to leave it alone if it’s working… ---

The problems with them tend to occur when an aftermarket CD ignition is used and more current is put through the high voltage side. Even then, they last for many tens of thousands of miles. The thing is, compared to what I know of the aftermarket units, very few of them are DOA or fail in a short time. That why I prefer them, plus the fact that you can return them easily if they are DOA. They are not too expensive if order from the right source. I haven’t bought one in a while, but the last one was ~$230 from Dal Slabaugh. Is it a perfect design - no. But it gets a lot more negative press than deserved. The vented units from '95 on solved a lot of the problems. Most likely your Accel will be fine as well. IOW - don’t worry, be happy! ---

Update: engine’s in, rebuilt by Edge Bros in Jacksonville, NC. 2g’s. They have a madd anal reputation, stock rebuild. Just waiting for A/C charge and lines/connectors to be hooked up. I should have the car back by the 7th of Never, how it feels. I mean I’m like seconds away from cutting all the sleeves off my shirts and drinking Miller Lite exclusively, I’m so psyched to get my droptop T/A back. Any day now. Then pics. Whatever. Damn, I want this car back. ---
