# Man arrested for driving 144 mph on NYS thruway

Plausible. Top speed for a stock ITR is 143 mph and a stock RSXTS is 146 mph. A lightly modded DC2 GS-R or DC5 base should be able to get up there.
Found a couple calcs with differing results.
DC2 frontal area is 67" wide x 52" high = 24.2 sq ft
Weigth is 2600 lbs.
Cd guessing .32 ish?
Assuming above the DC2 needs 170 hp: [http://www.wallaceracing.com/top-speed-hp.php](http://www.wallaceracing.com/top-speed-hp.php)
This calc says 197 hp: [http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/aerohpcalc.html](http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/aerohpcalc.html)
DC5 frontal area is 68" wide x 55" high = 26 sq ft
Weigth is 2800 lbs.
Cd guessing .32 ish?

This calc says 212 hp: [http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/aerohpcalc.html](http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/aerohpcalc.html)
The diference in calcs look like wheel vs. crank. Especially knowing the top speed of the stock ITR (195 crank hp and 143 mph) and RSXTS (210 crank hp and 146 mph) is closely in line with the hp of the second calc.
Lowering the car would help reduce frontal area and require less hp.

yeah, basic bolt ons should get it there, but it will take a while…
our 1990 chump car base model integra with its most beat motor could get 120 at the glen, so on a highway with probably at least 40 more HP he should be able to get more.
