And if you were pulled for a tail light and your vehicle was searched, you probably consented even if you didn’t realize it. ---

They can ask you out of the vehicle but unless they have a specific suspicion of wrong doing in progress other than a traffic infraction they need consent to search your vehicle. If they see something in plain view or your actions dictate it, they can search your vehicle without a warrant. ---

I would NEVER fuck with ANY customs/BP agent. They have a fucking tough job, and they do their jobs very well and they deal with A LOT of scum. I have ut-most respect for them and I think the guy in the vid was being a douchey ---

That doesn’t change the fact that there’s plenty of situations just like yours that the officer acts within the law. Btw I was pulled over in cheektowaga a few months ago for a license plate bulb being out. The officer politely asked me to step out of the car, and politely asked me if he could search the vehicle. I refused, he asked me a few questions and let me go. Not all cops are out to get you. ---

I think what he’s trying to say is that if a police officer really wants to search your vehicle, he can and there’s not much you can do about it, and they can come up with a reason later. I’ve seen a cop or two like this, but thankfully 95% of them are good people doing their job. Edit: Night, gotta get to bed early. Going in for the BP agent exam tomorrow. :lol: ---

I wouldn’t let anyone search my car without a warrant either. If you do you are setting yourself up for prosecution. It’s the same reason you don’t speak to the police if you didn’t do it and have no information about whatever it is. Saying something the wrong way can get you in trouble if the police think you did do it. Thats why we have these rights, so the innocent can’t be unjustly tried.
