The cartels south of the border and the violent gangs in our urban cities exist because of this failed policy. I understand you are just doing your job…but you are a pawn of this failed policy and your job directly effects peoples lives. So don’t hop up on your soap box and preach how the American people should just roll over and accept what you are doing. Not all of us believe what you are doing is right. you realize narcotics are not even half of my job right? i agree the legalization of narcotics would help the world in some ways, but the legalization of drugs would just make the cartels war over a newfound loss if monies and force them to traffic something else. if you’ve been paying attention, the president of Mexico legalized personal possession narcotics without persecution. shockingly though, it has not slowed the drug traffic on either side of the border. My job hardly is hardly dependent on prohibition and if you think that, you are ignorant. If you think my job focuses solely on illegal drugs, you are incredibly wrong and should read more into what we actually do. I’m not asking you to believe what I’m doing is right. This is a thankless job and I became used to that notion very quickly. People are always quick to say that law enforcement is inherently evil and always wrong, but when there’s a problem, we are the first people called. When something bad happens, we are also the first people blamed for failing to do our job. Such is life I suppose. I don’t expect people to “roll over and accept what we are doing” even if “what we are doing” is the job entitled to us. I didn’t write the policies, the books on Immigration Laws, etc. I enforce those laws and thats my job. If one of our checkpoints delays a traveler for 5 minutes but at the end of the day apprehends a wanted felon, 500 lbs of illegal narcotics, and 10 people trying to illegally enter the country, is that a bad thing? Jay said it best. You have a problem with the law, complain to the government. Don’t make the workers lives difficult because you disagree with the policies we enforce. Its jackasses like this guy in the video that makes people hate us. Come to a checkpoint, state your citizenship, move on. Not come to a checkpoint, start an argument, and hinder our work. The frustration is on both sides trust me. ---

the only BP I have ever had a problem with was the Canadian cuntbag on the MI/CA border. I was heading home with the stomach flu and she just bullshitted around then gave me some excuse that I couldnt prove I had money in my bank account to support myself if something broke on my 3 3/4 hr drive thru Canada (mind you I had a mess of spare parts and all my tools on me, coming home from helping part out a car). I had my credit card on me. So she made me drive the 10 hours the long way with the stomach flu home. that was a fun road trip.
