For all I know this was a fluke and it will be fine until next year. I ideally would like it to break by May at the earliest . ---

They way its works if you don’t have the C(common) wired is the battery will only charge when the furnace is running from the Rh wire. Lots of them are wired like this ---

Honestly, I have no idea. Installed mine 3 years ago, and it just works. Really haven’t had to F with it. ---

I guess some people leave their fans on 24/7 so it charges but to me just seems like an easy way to lose a fan/motor a lot sooner. If I have more trouble with it when I get home from work I’ll start posting pics and progress, or just throw on that shitty 20$ one. ---

You don’t need leave your fan on 24/7 to keep it charged mine doesn’t have a common and has only had a issue once and that was after sitting all summer since I don’t have central air. ---

BTW I don’t have central air either. My NEST was on all summer with no issues. ---

Interestingly I just looked at my NEST and it said “low battery, not connected” lol. There is a service issue reported today on the NEST site and the recommendation is to reset the NEST. > Nest Learning Thermostat Issue > Some customers may be experiencing an issue with their Nest Learning Thermostat.
