My brother in law has a baller gaming keyboard, minimally better, meh, I couldn’t bear to be caught using it an office environment without risk of being called a WOW playing fggt. My one friend SWEARS by old school mechanicals, I have to take a second to adapt to the nature of the keystroke, but they’re a lot more ergonomic and require less effort than the HP laptop I’m currently using. Would I pay $$$ for it? fuck no, would I ante up a few dollars over a free Dell/HP oem? If I made my living on it, likely. ---

Well I already ordered one :lol: I talked to a handful of people and they all said it increased typing speed and required less effort to press keys. ---

WASD,space and left shift have worn away but the board works awesome. I’d have to try the mech boards, i’ve heard alot about them. I prefer the shorter keys, 1ms response time is fast enough for me lol ---

Meh, not a fan of those types of keyboards. I few people at work have these. I always enjoyed them and they do last but I do not really have a problem with some of the modern ones. I do type a bit slower on my Mac keyboard than my physical keyboard on my work desk but that is just a given I think with laptop vs desktop keyboards when you have big hands. ---

aren’t they pretty loud? I doubt the people neighboring cubicle would appreciate (if you work in a quiet office) … when i worked at ub helpdesk we had one of the old IBM mechanical keyboards kicking around (I think ILC used it for a while) and it was quiet nice to use, but insanely loud. ---

they look pretty cool…i am sure they are better to type on in general…but 130 bux for a keyboard to me is insane…but thats me…i guess if you type a lot or hardcore into computers go for it ---

I have this theory on spending money based how often you use something… Spending 8+ hours a day on a computer $130 for a keyboard isn’t bad. Same thing with buying an expensive bed since you spend 8 hours a day sleeping in it. ---

It’s really that loud? What’s the real difference or biggest transition from a standard one? Seems like the keys are up a bit higher. Must haves for me are the media keys. I like to get some jams going at the office but constantly have to search my taskbar for the pause button or open the window and mute when taking a call. The “G” keys are an added bonus to map shortcuts and key strokes and what not to them. ---

The thing that sucked for me was this extra set of keys on the left kept screwing up my hand orientation for the first few weeks. yes these keyboards are very loud You also have to learn you don’t need to push the keys all the way down ---

While I still love that Kinesis keyboard, my opinion has changed on the mechanicals. They are very nice and the tactile feel and response is awesome for touch typists like me. There are some youtube clips that show the sound differences with Cherry MX Blue, Brown and Red switches with regards to sounds.
