> i had a 94 altima with rust on strut towers, both sides…and i rubbed some oil on it, (had some oil in a container from the last time i did an oil change) and within 2 to 3 months later i saw that it looked like it ‘died’ the rust wasnt spreading. and up untill 4 months ago before i sold the altima, it stayed the same, i could have seen where i put the oil, the rust turned like a ‘black spot’ its hard to describe how it looked like but it works!

ur grandfathers right. Thats why they have undercoatings for cars. If water cant get to metal, then it cant be oxidized. When you put the oil onto the rust it prevented water from getting to it, thus preventing it from rusting untill the oil has evaporated, or just been washed away after a while.
