no, they’re speed limited to 147mph, actually I thought it was 137 but i guess not :rofl unless your speedo is that far off for w/e reason…i hit the rev limiter (7200 rpm) which with my rear end (3.15) and at-the-time tire size (235/40-17) equates to a hair over 171mph 🙂 ---

The tire size wouldnt effect the governer. You would still see the same speed on the speedo but the actual vehicle speed would be different. Unless the ECM reads speed via GPS ---

Nice Travis, shit on everyones thread. You’re a douchbag. Your limiter is 137mph, thats how far off the speedo is. It’s % based so it will be farther off the higher you go. The gps-based data acquisition says 131 when my speedo says 137 for example. BMW engineers have hinted in the past that it was done intentionally to keep actual speeds down on highways during the 90s-00s when the German gov was complaining cars were going to fast. Eventually it turned into the reason most German cars are limited to 155mph from the factory. Try cruising on the highway next to a new Civic with the digital speedo that you can read at night from across a highway lane. It’ll be a few mph difference. The 96-99 M3s with a 3.23 diff are actually geared to 159mph @ 7000rpm but the limiter will shut you down before that (obviously). ---
