Interesting factoid from Bloomberg:

> The MGM Grand blaze on Nov. 21, 1980, flashed through the casino at a rate of **19 feet per second** , according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. An investigation determined that a sprinkler system could have averted the disaster; legal settlements totaled more than $223 million, the newspaper said. The hotel is now Bally’s.

Yes, absolutely.

Ever been?

Its a bowl, in the desert, with nothing for miles but some sparse joshua tree fields. Surrounded by mountains.

Even Lake Meade (manmade) is slowly drying up.

As of ~3 yrs ago.

Think about the amount of fluids spilled on carpets in these joints and it starts to make sense 😉

The yahoo news article said that it started in the center of the building and traveled outwards across the roof. So an internal fire suppression system may have been useless…however a fire rated roof system would have been nice but since developers are cheap, I know exactly what system was up there and it burns better than wildfire.

Great news for my business once I get good pics of it 🙂
