i know how systems work i design them for a living i was just didnt know the fire code of nevada, my company has done all the casinos in this area as of late and we have never put a storage tank of water on the roof for fire. I was just wondering if its the lack of potable water in that area that they need a tank for it or jsut different state codes. it really doesnt make sense for dry systems to be there unless that is all state code requires, it water that big of a factor in that area??

most systems in this area are wet systems or atleast upgraded to wet fully automatic systems

> All commercial buildings are required to have a sprinkler system. Most of the systems are dry. Which means that when the firemen get there. They attach to the building and pump water up into whatever room the sprinkler activated.
>
> Most people dont know that a fire can double in just about 3 minutes.
>
> How do fires get this big?
>
> 1. Fire is discovered (3-5 minutes)
> 2. 911 is called (1 minutes)
> 3. Dispatch (1 minute)
> 4. Response time, which can vary is usually about 1 minute for a paid company like you find in a big city
> 5. Travel time (3-5 minutes) To get the standard 3 pumpers and 2 ladders
>
> So right away, before the firemen even start pumping water OR reach the room. You have 12 minutes. Enough for the fire to double 4 times, Or be 16 times the original size.
