i suspect the maintenance costs do a fair bit to counteract the appreciating value.
i can only imagine how many tens of thousands an f50 cost per year to maintain.

Not unless you inherit the $. If you have that kind of $, it is generally indicative of very hard work which comes with more problems than most would care to deal with.
