Better not read the news then. There were over 5200 motorcycle deaths in the US in 2008. (I haven’t seen any 2009 stats yet.) AKA over 14 per day, aka what the fuck is the point of this thread?
And do you really, honestly, truthfully, have any reaction at all to reading a small totally impersonal story about someone you don’t know who died 1000 miles away?
Maybe you do in this specific instance since you say you are from there, but fuck. If you’re that insecure with the risks stop riding.

at 14 a day… i lol… because yea… it sucks, and yea its sad, but more people die crossing the street, smoking cigarettes, swimming, etc etc than this…
its sad, just be safe…
I want to see the statistic on how many of these fatalities were avoidable by the rider… or how many of the riders were age 21-40… or how may people took the msf… ran a trackday… regularly practice emergency stopping… swerving… etc…
or how many had MIRRORS on their bikes.
oh yea… RIP ☹

Yeah so much of the risk can be minimized by just not riding when you shouldn’t be. Bad weather, tired, in traffic/commuting when your head’s not in the game, stupid, you definitely shouldn’t ride when stupid…
