# MPG of modified cars.

I get right around 22mpg out of boost and 30ish on the highway in my heavy as hell awd. I try to get atleast 300miles per 15gals (one tank) with a few occational wot runs :nod

Are you sure? That car gets 16/22 using the OLD EPA ratings…

evo gets 20mpg, i think. Haven’t checked mpg is a year or so though. Takes me too long to go through a whole tank :headbang. I’ll track MPG when I head up to Moon performance for the alignment day on the 30th

i get about 18-19 driving reasonable in the cobra
15 or so if im playing
and about 25-26 in the GLI

I am telling you from actual experience…29-30mpg on the highway. I did pump up the tires to like 45psi and didn’t hit boost once through the entire tank. I forgot to mention, this is what that handy little trip meter told me, so I suppose it could be wrong? I know I got approx 375-400 miles to 13ish gals.

After I got my car tuned I am getting 18 city and just took it on a trip and got 29mpg! :bowdown
Not bad for a v8.

> If a car with 200cc injectors injects 200cc of fuel @ a given pressure and gets 30 mpg @ 9 psi and that same engine then has 650cc injectors installed and upped to 20psi, your going to flow ALOT more fuel, about 3 times as much for math iliterates. BTW The car is only out of boost when under vacuum like at idle or cruising at 75 on the highway with a tailwind and flat ground ahead of you, at all other times there is 1-30 psi of pressure going into the intake. I would bet money that you cant prove your statement at all, So if you never went up hill or had to load the engine and drove like grandma you might squeeze 20-25 out of a 700 hp 4 cyl,fucking maybe.

you cant compare injectors that way though, a 600cc injector isnt going to just DUMP fuel. There are many variables like injector p/width, duty cycle and timing.

You should maintain good highway gas mileage if you drive it out of boost which is typical for most highway driving. Somehow 1stgen doesn’t seem to grasp that. These big HP imports aren’t making their peak HP while cruising on the highway… :headbang
But you are right. Driving around town and making XWHP more is going go use more fuel period.

It probably means normal driving using boost rather than cruise.
