Thanks guys. It pulled VERY hard too. It made 14PSI at like 4k in 1st. It sounded like the gates opened but i let out. I am going to check to make sure the boost controller is hooked up right. Also a little compressor surge so need to make sure BOV is opening. Might have a vac leak.

It blew the 325 MT Drag Radials off from a roll in 1st. Hopefully because they are new and cold. I need to look into the boost control because I am pretty sure I installed a 10.5psi spring. Maybe its hooked up backwards or I could have some gate priority issues. We shall see. Maybe I will just do a rip in 2nd and see if the boost stabalizes but according to hptuners the graph looks like it was climbing past 14psi. glad I let out.

Injectors were at 58% AF of 10.93 and timing at 12.5\* so a very soft tuneup. Id guess 600rwhp.

BOV wasn’t opening. I am going to try a Tial Q. Right now it has an ebay special on it. Lots of compressor surge noises. Didn’t stop me from going WOT a bunch though haha

Thanks Luke

Anyone know where I can grab a Tial Q or anything using the similar bov flange for me to test out today? I don’t think mine is opening at all.

I have been thinking about the gates. Im almost positive the gates opened so they might just be opening late. I think I will change out the springs after work. I really would like to be at around 10psi on the street with pump gas. Hope I can make around 550rwhp on a conservative street tune. Shoot for about 750 on a “race” tune for the track.

Also I friggin love the glide. At no point does it feel sluggish. It has a pretty tight converter so from a stop I can basically hammer the gas and go.

Did lots of bench testing yesterday with a mity vac(for bov) and regulated air (for wastegates)

So I found it took over 30invac to open the bov even slightly. Took it apart and found some rusty ass spring. I have a pile of WG springs with known psi values. After some testing settled on spring that on the bench would open 100% on about 20invac. Boom BOV fixed

Next up wastegates. They had 10.15psi springs, i tested them on 11 psi and the opened. Figured wtf and installed a 6ps spring. Tested on 7 and it opened. So I installed in the car, ran the regulated air through the MBC and they did not open! The MBC has a bleed hole which I think is alleviating too much line pressure? Anyhow they opened 100% on about 12psi.
But that wasnt the end. I could hear a faint hiss and noticed the threads on the FPR were leaking. This shares the same reference as the bov and gates and this leak would make them see less pressure/vac. I fixed the leak but it was late and didn’t do any further testing.

I need to fix the brake lights before I drive much more but real world aka burnouts will give more evidence of the changes.

What kind of MBC are you using? The hallman pro’s work great and come in all sorts of fancy colors to match!

So are the bov, wastegates and boost gauge on a manifold sharing a vac source? Is that vac source pretty solid in terms of consistency? You may want to hook your boost gauge directly to each source individually just to make sure you’re getting the expected vac and boost at each.

It is a grimmspeed unit. I have a hallman in the garage now someone brought over for testing.

BOV, 2 gates, FPR are off of one source. It certainly could be an issue sharing this much but it is the exact same way I did it on the rx7 even same FPR and gates. However I bet the leak at the FPR was greatly changing what the others were seeing. So for safety reasons isolating gates might be better.

When I drive it next if the issue remains with the gates opening late I am going to give the MBC and gates their own source.

I might take it for a rip after work tomorrow if I can get the brake lights working.

FYI that was the same problem my honda was having

There is only a bleeder valve on some MBC and not on others. I believe the hallman pro does not use one but I hallman ES does.

I would try putting the gauge on that same source and see what it’s reading. That should indicate whether or not that leak is affecting boost/vaccum. Either way sounds like you’ve made some tweaks already, hopefully that fixes it for ya.

I doubt it’s an issue of sharing a source. I think I would actually prefer sharing a source. I THINK (in theory) that the important part is just consistency, so that both WGs are seeing the same boost and open at the same time.

Then again, it’s been a better part of 10 years since I’ve extensively worked on my little turbo car, so take my advice for what it’s worth.
