Went smoothly and was pretty straight-forward…wanted to share some of it with y’all…

Before…using narrowband gauge…

The AEM Uego gauge (did silver bezel with white backing)…

The new look installed (ghetto installed for now lol):

BTW, on full-throttle at 5-6 PSI (KA-T) my AFR’s were generally in the 11.2-11.8 area, which I was pretty glad to see considering it’s still using nothing but an 8:1 FMU and Walbro.

In summary, I thought it was a great buy and would recommend it to anyone interested.

Hahaha I hear ya…i’ll be boosting 7-8 pounds if the AFR’s are good…plenty of pull for me in a daily driver.

As far as going to the double digits, i’ll probably wait on that. I feel that doing that right would require a fair bit more of my time and money that should be elsewhere at the moment…

Basically, when it’s not my daily driver and i’ve got some money kicking around i’ll think about turning up the numbers and getting a real fuel system, and even building it.

Yeah I guess I am kind of soft on her sometimes…but hey, she keeps me boosting through the winter so good on her!

I took out the old narrowband AF meter (accurate to 1.5:1 AFR) to replace it with the AEM Uego wideband AF meter (accurate to 0.1:1) so that I can know exactly where my AFR’s are, as opposed to just being some form of “rich”. Basically some insurance for when I turn the boost up some.

One of the reasons I did this as well was because I was really curious as to the AFR’s on an FMU setup; i’ve never heard of anyone running a KA-T with an FMU and a wideband before…I recognize it being a little overkill for low boost but it’s good to have and hopefully educational for anyone thinking about using an FMU for a while.

Mr\_240sx — As far as using the S-AFC, well, as I mentioned above, if I get into the bigger numbers then i’d rather go all in and get something a little more sophisticated. With that said, you’re right in that I might be able to get away with 10-12 PSI on maybe some 480cc’ers and the S-AFC but I just don’t think i’m going to go that route.

Oh and one other thing - this gauge - I kid you not - on startup says “POO”!! (actually says “P00” for the config, but I lol’d!)

UPDATE:

Looks like when going over 6 PSI (big T3/T4) the stock injectors start to tire out (not really a big surprise to me!).

When hitting between 7-9 PSI I saw AFR’s heading into the 13’s under boost, which is exactly why I have the wideband in the first place.

So, i’ve left her at a happy 6 PSI, pulls plenty hard for the street for now and usually floats around the mid-high 11’s AFR.

I’m sure if you’re running a T25 KA-T you may be able to get away with 8-10 PSI before the stocker’s start to run out…but point being a wideband is always a good thing to have.

Anywho, a vid of the pulls is to come.

thats awesome dude

for such low boost iwould keep the AFRs around 12:1 if possible and not below 11.5:1

just to prevent gasoline getting into the oil

Here’s a vid of my brother and I goofing around with some Uego runs.

It gives you an the idea of where the AFR #'s are at with an 8:1 FMU, Walbro pump, T3/T4 (AR .60) and between 5-7 PSI. Also good if you’ve never seen the Uego or a wideband in action, or to just give an idea of how quick (or slow depending on what you’re used to!) low-boost KA-T’s run.

(Filmed in -5C or so weather)

Have a look at the numbers Sasha…gets a little rich near redline sometimes…

</div>

yea you’re too rich boss

either s-afc it down or get a lower rate FPR

i wouldnt reccomend lowering your base fuel press but you might be able to get away with a little

it should be 12-12.3:1 from peak torque to redline at 6psi.

Of course…colder air more dense…well at least it’s too rich, not too lean.

I’ve got the FMU discs around, i’ll change them when I get the chance and try to report back.

Thanks for your help bro, much appreciated.

Noted, will do.

I checked the oil out tonight and it looked good and full, didn’t notice any fuel smell I don’t think - would it be dead obvious or a just a tiny hint of a smell?

I PM’d you CSRBB about the set up we were talking about…if anyone wants to know my set up just throw me a PM.

nah i dont think you’d be able to tell

its a very very small bit of fuel IF there even is any fuel in your motor yet. Its just a precaution i would take as i know engines will grenade if there is too much fuel in the oil and they starve

usually in racing though
