# my door killed my engine.

Ok so I am getting my girl ready for paint but I am trying to do a good job. So I’m pulling off all the car parts such as doors hatch hood. However when I disconnected the door harness the car wont start now.

It turns over and I can smell gas so its got to be the ignition system. I know once i put the doors back on she will fire back up again but dose anyone know what part in the door makes it so it wont start? I want to pull the part off so i can move the car in and out of the garage to work on it.

That makes absolutely no sense.

The door harness has absolutely nothing to do with any of the ignition and starting functions. They are fused and wired different.

You have a problem elsewhere.

sorry man it started and ran fine the day before and never had a problem starting. I was only after the doors came off that it wouldn’t start. nothing had been changed on the car either. other then some sanding on the body. i guess i could plug the harness back in and see if it works but its just a pain in the ass.

The thing is you could be right too. The guys that owned my car before me did some really scary things to it. I do know there’s an old cut alarm system in it. it doesn’t work other then the door locks. Its a cheep cheep brand to.
