For as much love as I have …and put into this thing, it just takes a big poo on me. Yes, it is my own fault…for leaving it outside and letting it sit while I was getting the motor built…twice now.
So now, i can’t even work on it. Every bolt I touch crumbles apart… i can’t even put brakes on it its so bad.

…that give me chills. All that work in this car isn’t worth it. Its already heavy enough, adding that much more metal and weigh doesn’t amuse me. Looking for a clean shell now.

doesnt surprise me really. all toyota’s that age do that. like they all say, the motor will last you forever, its the body that goes on you.

What else can you put a 3sgte in?..or the whole drivetrain to make something awd. I was trying to think of some cool ideas…

can’t you find any celica in that body style & swap in the motor & drivetrain…or does the alltrac have some specific stuff on it.

You could put the Gen 1 3SGTE in just about any Toyota from that time frame. The only problem is that most Toyotas from that period are notorious for rotting. You would have a tough time finding a good chassis for a swap (unless you looked down south).
I know that some people have 3S-GTEs in their 5th and 6th gen Celicas (90s+). The only thing is that if you want to keep AWD you would have to go with an ST-185 drivetrain swap. I don’t believe that the full ST-165 drivetrain fits in the newer generations. You might be able to fit the 3SGTE in and then only power the front wheels (using an E153 tranny from a MKII MR2 or making a block-off for the rear driveshaft on your tranny), but I don’t think this would be the best solution.
You can make just about anything work. You just need the right chassis, tranny, and drive shafts to make it work.

I was down with the starlet, but thats rwd, so i dont know the level of fabrication it would take to get the 3s in there. It might be slightly easier to start with an already fwd car.
I was thinking about throwing it in a convertible 88. That wouldn’t be bad to put around in.

A Tercel or Paseo, with enough welding…
The motor will go in a 2g MR2, 88-99(?) Celica. I’ve seen 3sgtes in Tercels and Corollas, but it’s some work.
