Well, that pretty much confirms it. News article says everyone at the flight club had it wrong. Video shows dude that very likely was part of the flight club/is the pilot/whatever saying the plane won’t take off. Therefore homeboy there was wrong and the plane took off. Not that the theoretical conclusion surprises anyone, but it’ll be great to have “proof” for S101 and others. ---

So answer one question - why would a treadmill stop the plane from accelerating? ---

Why would they proceed to a full size test if the scale test on the tread mill was not successful? i.e. the model plane on the treadmill was able to move forward under its own power despite the conveyor going in the opposite direction. ---

god this is gonna pw3n so many people and that pilots an idiot, but planes are like cars, lots of people operate them, and its only a certian % of them who actualy know how they work ---

If you really think about it the conveyor is supposed to match the “Forward Speed” of the plane. If it actually did that then the plane would NEVER move forward and gain NO forward speed… so there would be NOTHING to match. If the plane has ANY kind of forward speed that means it accelerated (and moved forward (not standing still)) If its moving forward then its constantly accelerating… up to take off speed and see Ya. All the conveyor is CAPABLE of matching (per the wording) is wheel speed, not forward speed. I CANT believe all those pilots are dumbasses. ---

i still cant get people at work to think ignore the wheel speed thing. their only argument is that the wheels will never allow the plane to move forward. but, they dont like my verticle treadmill parking idea either? ---
