# Need a heating/cooling guy

Looking at a house with a baseboard heating/boiler system and I’d like a pro’s opinion on it. Would also like a once over on the hot water tank. Recommendations?
Home inspection will be done, but I think I’d like a trained, expert eye to give me their thoughts.

My dad has used Barry Sherer of Sherer Heating and Air Conditioning and I just used him as well for an AC eval on the house I’m buying.

I had several estimates when I had my furnance/AC replaced this year and Capital Heat was by far the best. The owner personally comes out and the quote and after talking with him quite a bit it’s clear the guy really knows his stuff.

Capital was booked out till the end of July, so I went with O’Donnell heating. Waste of time, the guy looked at the boiler for 30 seconds, didnt even touch it, told me I needed a brand new $6k system, then tried to sell me his buddies new house in another part of town. The whole time he was a pompous ass, was condescending about my home inspector (whom I actually value and think did a great job) among other things. I know the system isnt brand new, and sure, a brand new one would alleviate most any concerns, but I was looking for (and thought I was paying for) a serious inspection / overview of the system.
Cliffnotes: dont use O’donnel heating

I know for my house, I called the sticker on the boiler itself and had them come and do a tune up. I also asked them to bring me the service records so I have them on file. Will help me when I sell my house to show that it was maintained pretty consistently.

Adema heating and cooling.
Had them tune up my 30+ year old boiler a couple years ago and it never worked better.
ECU went on it two months later and they came out on New Years Eve and replaced the part within an hour. Never received the $400 bill because they had just tuned it up two months prior (obviously they wouldn’t have known the ECU was going to fail).
Quick, courteous and definitely the go-to guys.

I hope you mean ignition module if one that old really had one lol. Nice they stood by there maintenance surprised since the failure had nothing to do with it. Sound like a good company. I dont hear much about any of the company’s but i work for a decent sized one, theres commercials on tv, im not in them though lol

I have a practically brand new boiler just un-install it to replace with AC/furnace unit if you are looking for one. It’s installed by Adema heating and still got the receipt. you can have it for cheap.

I thought it was the control module?? IDK, it blinks and theres a butt-load of wires going into it. The boiler was replaced in the 90’s now that I think about it. I think. IDK, it’s a Dunkirk and it runs like a champ. Ha.

Dunkirk is good, its probably the control board it might have one being from the 90s, but you called it an ecm like a car lol. Im thinking probably still an ignition module being 90s and not more recent.

Yeah, I know more about cars than boilers 😉
