I know there are a bunch of you guys on here with reptiles; so I figured this would be the place to ask. We moved my GF’s RES (turtle) from Rochester to Here 2 weeks ago. He’s about 3 years old; eats like a pig normally. He’s stopped eating pretty much since last week. We fed him some feeder fish as a treat a week ago; he at 2/6; the other 4 are still in the tank. He’s not eating his normal food either. But overall he’s still acting fairly normal; swimming/basking/etc; just not eating. Well, she doesn’t have a vet out here, so we’re looking for one we could possibly take him to this week. And seeing most vets don’t do reptile’s I was hoping at least one of you guys could give me a reference on who to call. Thanks. ---

Interesting, my turtles would just hibernate over the winter months so they wouldnt eat at all. Try feeding it something different like a piece of turkey or ham. ---

what kind of turtle? pics? its normal for them to slow down/completely stop eating in the winter… especially if you moved it and lost its “heat” source and decided to go into “hibernation” ---

to be honest with you my turtle gets the same way in winter. Hell go for a while where he wont look at food and also after moving him hell take some time to adapt and feel comfortable with everything. But if you feel that worried do what the others said. ---

Yea; the little bastard finally started eating about 15 mins ago… We were just checking on him after we got home; and she threw some shrimp in there and she walked away (I was still sitting there watching); and he scarfed them right down… ---

most reptiles dont eat much in the winter. Make sure the heat and humidity are close if not the same as before you left. I only feed my snakes once every 2 months in the winter, most reptiles go into a hibernative state.
