well to simplify things i knocked the lock out of the ignition tumbler so i can turn the “key” now with a screw driver. ---

no luck. i have however discovered something. the neutral switch is bad according to the test. there is supposed to be continuity between the switch and ground. if i plug the sensor in anyways the bike will crank with the clutch pulled but the neutral light will not be lit. if i unplug the sensor and run a groung lead to it the neutral light will illuminate but the bike will no longer crank, even with the clutch in. wtf ---

the way it usually is if the bike is in neutral, no other checks must pass… ie clutch pulled, kickstand down etc. If it is NOT in neutral then thats when it usually looks for the clutch lever being pulled in and kickstand up. Something seems up with that switch, but you would think if u grounded it out and so it always thought it was in neutral that would suffice ---

+1 on checking to make sure the magneto is clean. My kx250 had this problem, that also had a pickup that would need to be set close to the mag. I would just clean the crap out everything in the side case. I ushally sand the mag and stator down a bit for better contact. ---

finally got this thing running… only really runs on choke though. if you twist the throttle is bogs, and will die if you don’t let off. had the carb apart and cleaned it, past that i really didn’t want to mess with anything. anyone have some ideas? ---

sounds like the carb needs to be adjusted… your using new gas, new plugs, etc right? have you replaced the plug wires ---

soakin em still wont dissolve all the stuff in jets thats why its a good idea to keep wire brushes around just to clean all the way out ---

in all honesty without lookin at carb i couldnt tell ya just pull the all of them and watch were they go and install in same spot ,carb layout is diff all across the board the main jet is always the center one where the needle goes threw the pilot is normally right next to it but like i said just pull all of them ---

how do they come apart? do i need any special tools? do they need to be torqued or anything specific later? ---

just a straight blade screwdriver ,a semi small one though for the jets .the bowl is a philips or allen bolts no special tools needed just pay attention ---
