# Need info on selling a car that was gifted to me (paperwork question)

I was gifted a van. 04 freestar. I have the signed title and lien release. I also have the dmv form that I need to title it all ready to go. I don’t want the van. It was left to me as payment for storing it. Can I sell it with what I have already? Or do I need to title it in my name before hand? I haven’t sold a vehicle in probably 10 years or more and I can’t call the dmv til monday (hopefully selling tomorrow)

Gifted by who? It generally matters if its family or not

You have to title it in your name. Selling a car with someone else’s name is considered “jumping title” and is generally frowned upon, but more importantly…illegal.
