like the title says. JB weld isn’t worth shit and I don’t know how well other epoxies work.
What am I using it for? gluing a cracked, plastic bumper.

well its a front bumper on a 93 civic. Im thinking about using an epoxy because it a pretty clean crack. Im not quite sure what kind of plastic it is.

you are probably going to need to reinforce it from the back side regardless.
i imagine that the bumper is polyurethane…

wow, when you said ABS, I thought you were talking about the air bags. If you all think epoxy wont be strong enough, I will look for someone to plastic weld it. unless I could do it with a small butane torch and plastic rod myself.

ive got a decent frost white bumper from my 93 hatch… toss me an offer. not perfect but its not cracked lol.

Id love to take you up on the offer, but only red or black would an option and Id hate to screw up a good paint job by painting it flat black.

3m panel bond 8115 or Fuzor 147
but will cost a bit more than previous options.
as Newman said, it will definately need to be reinforced from the back

^^fiberglass and plastic/abs/urethane dont mesh too well. it can be done, but i wouldnt expect it to hold too long as they expand/contract at different rates

I fixed a cracked valance by riveting a piece of aluminum reinforcement on either side of the crack. Shit looked mean!
What the fuck movie was it where there was an old bus driver for a hockey team, who was beating the shit out of the bus with a sledge, and when asked what he was doing responded with “Making it look MEEAAN!!!”???

I think I might just end up doing this. I’ll try the fiberglass reinforcement technique with some scrap ABS. So long as I can sand the epoxy, I will just touch it up with some flat black paint.

with those products you will need the special applicator gun which isnt cheap. someone told me they seen a part they sell that adapts to a normal caulk gun to make it work. i personally havent seen it though.
if you need help, you can bring it over to my place…i have all the air tools you could possibly need. just supply a 12 pack 🙂
