# Need some help/ legal advice maybe

I’ve been working for this medical transport company… Had to pick a patient from the hospital and bring her to the nursing home… Anyways there was a 75$ charge and the lady gave me the envelope with the cash in it…
So I got the check and once I got to the van I put the envelope in the cubby and forgot to turn the envelope in to the dispatcher and now the envelope is missing ( assuming the person who had the van directly after me took the envelope) now they are trying to take the money out of my pay accusing me of taking the money…
What can/do I do? Planned on quitting in the next couple of weeks because of their method on calculating hours

Replacing cash in envelope: $75
Either way its going to look like shit. In their eyes; Either you stole it and won’t admit it or you stole it and you’re threatening to get a lawyer. Only way is to find out who used the van after you. Then beat the fuck out of them for $75.

Best bet is pay up and make it plain you DIDN’T take the money but you admit that you’re responsible for it going missing by forgetting to grab it. Anything other than that could leave you with a bad reference, especially so close to you leaving.

You answered your own question, if you are an asset to a business you already know the proper course of action.
Anything other than walking in and saying “I fucked up, lost the money. (reach into wallet) so here is the money I lost, for my sake and the companies I will pay more attention.” you have no other course of action that will make you look half way decent. BUT you should have done that BEFORE it was found missing. Now it still looks questionable.
Last thing you want to do, also, is burn the bridges with them if you want to use them on a resume.

If I would’ve known it was missing I would’ve told them… However it was the end of a shift I was rushing to get out and forgot about the envelope… Mistake on my part I know

Like you said, either way is going to look fucked, but the lesser of two fuckedzzz is to just give them $75 out of pocket and explain what happened. Then fuck over the other guy. Tell him they had hidden cameras and it was a test.

Chock it up and eat the $75. You messed up. Unless you have concrete proof this guy took the cash you’re not going to go anywhere with that except waste more time and money in doing so. Take responsibility for your actions.

i would quit. that would probally save you a headache or two. esp if the hours are working for you.
also you are responsible for the cash i would think.
if you borrowed my lawn mower and forgot to return it then later found out some random dude stole it while it was in your possession i would be pissed. your responsible. but make sure to let that guy on the second shift know hes a jerk and hire strong arm to shake him a bit if you want revenge. or set him up with another envlope with cash and see if that dude takes it. some sherlock holms shit
but dont take my advice. i am no legal lawyer and you should make the best decision. this is just advice on how i would approach it.

Paying the $75 bucks admitting it was your responsibility (which it was) and apologizing says something good about your character…
Fighting it, saying you did not take it whether you did so or not without any sort of proof simply makes it look like you’re the one who took it in most employers eyes.

Hmm I thought he said it was cash… Then he does say check. If that were the case I’d (if I were the company) call the lady to verify that a check was given and to have her ask her bank if it was cashed yet, I would then simply ask if she could write another
Dock the person (in this case pete) the 75 bucks, and if it checks out re-imburst him once the check is in hand.
Or keep both and teach a valuable life lesson 🤣rofl:rofl

if your going to quit in a couple weeks anyway, just up and leave… Make this incident the reason for leaving “I dont like the type of work enviornment I am involved in where people steal, I havent stolen anything from you nor anyone else in my life”

agree, but why should he care? He will never see those people ever again and nothing would come of it as its only $75… If its somewhere where his family works or something related like that where you have to keep a good name, then you pay the $75 and work it out.
