I feel like Chevy’s new ad campaign is pretty low brow and tasteless.

I have seen 3 commercials. One where they’re making fun of the ford “man step” whatever the fuck that is, one targeting the seats in some SUV, and one targeting the Toyota Tundra’s V6.

I can’t quite put my finger on why they bug me. Perhaps it’s because even though car commercials frequently point out that their product has better \_\_\_\_\_ than companies X,Y,Z it’s usually done discretely. These new commercials seem more like a political smear campaign than car ads.

I think it’s because I expect a _worldwide_ company to be a little more professional than what essentially boils down to:

“buy a Chevy if you want to be a man; buy a Toyota/Ford if you want to be a girly fggt”

But it probably works, and they’re starving for business, so who am I to judge…

There’s the one where the guy backs into the silverado with his Ram. And the silverado guy makes fun of the heated steering wheel. So Stupid. I wish I had a heated steering wheel!

On the contrary the new silverado is probably the nicest truck out there currently.

So is that why it didn’t get the International Auto Show Truck of the year, or whatever blah blah blah award it is?

I guess when your union healthcare, wage and retirement costs have prevented you from affording the R&D to get any innovative features your last resort is to call those features the competition has “girly”.

Honestly, fuck GM and their bailout request. It’s time to restore consequence to bad business practices.

Since when do auto show awards mean anything other than bragging rights in ad campaigns? After driving all 4 major trucks and comparing them in the last month (toyota, dodge, ford, chevy) the only two I would consider is the Chevy and The toyota.

I drove them all… several times. I need a truck that can stand up to my abuse. I have only owned ford trucks before, and I now drive an 08 sierra. There is a reason for that.

Oh I don’t know, usually when you have a group of industry critics deciding which truck is “best”, it might want to be factored in.

Of course people have their favorites, but I am pretty sure Ford F150 is the WORLDS top selling truck for a reason, and I am not even a fan of Ford.

Just sayin’ is all…

Ford, Toyota, Chevy all do the same type of direct comparison marketing for their trucks.

'cause the base model WT is the cheapest in fleet pricing.

Regardless of which truck IS indeed the best, i still think the ad is tacky as hell.

Agreed, but I feel like this time the ad takes it beyond the truck’s merits and makes stabs at the OWNERS of the vehicle.

Saying The chevy silverado V8 gets better EPA FE than the Tundra V6 is one thing.

Hinting that driving a Tundra makes you less of a man? That’s substantially different.

And the money is going to go bail out people who failed to pay their mortgages. It’s a lose/lose situation, either way someone was financially irresponsible and will be getting a free hand out.

Why is it a piece of shit? Oh, and a V6 full-size pickup is fggty.

You gotta remember, we’re in the north. Driving something masculine (compensating) is a big deal to a lot of southerners that drive whatever black pickup truck makes them look like the biggest badass.
