I hope they do well. Somebody needs to challenge Audi 🙂
But I’m sure the car will implode once J-Ville starts singing in the cockpit. :bloated:

I wonder why they decided to go closed cockpit when most of the other cars in the class are open?
Not that I mind of course, I think closed cockpit cars (ala 787B, Nissan 91C, Bentley etc. etc.) look way sexier than open cockpit cars…

Because the new rule set dictates that P1 is closed top and P2 is roadsters from 2009 on.

Ah, I didn’t know about the rule change. Wonder if Audi is going to retrofit the TDI or redesign the whole thing for 2009. Or maybe bring back the Bentley?

Honestly, I wouldnt be surprised to see Audi leave the sport, but I havent heard anything official. Personally I’d prefer to see them bring out a modern UrQ and go back to Rally. Sadly P1 and GT1 are almost dead classes. P2 and GT2 on the other hand are going CRAZY especially with the Dyson/Porsche, Lola/Mazda, Lightning/Ferrari, Panoz/PTG, LettermanRahl/Porsche news.

Did some digging, apparently there was an article in a past Race Car Engineering magazine that reviewed the program and the white car. The article went on to say that the white car was just a roller and more of a design study than the final product. The article also said that the final working prototype would differ quite a bit from the white show car…they pointed out break lines at the door that were too small, oddly placed/angled vents, the nose and rear wings that would not pass regs etc…
