# new puppy

well about 6 months ago my parents had to put our dog jamie to sleep. my dad said he didnt want anymore dogs…:bsflag: he sent me out last night to pick a new pup as a surprise for my mom (i think he just wanted another dog). He’s a 4 week old Australian Shepherd (black phantom merle). just have to wait 4 more weeks to pick him up now 🙂 my dad chose the name CJ (first letters of both of our dogs names) but i think im going to call him bandit 😃

i hope he looks like foster! he was the runt of the litter but he had the best personality. i think hes afraid of adam though lol

adam played with him and held him earlier…then adam made a noise when he was walking by him and he just looked at adam for a min then backed up into the cage.

Congratulations, he’s very cute! We just got our first puppy and it is handful considering we are both working. He is pretty much potty trained now and only has accidents if we wait too long to take him out. I didn’t realize how much of a responsibility puppies are.

awww hes a cutie! we got lucky…they have already started potty training so we hope for the best haha!
do you have any pics of foster when he was a puppy? and yes this dog will swim with foster damnit lol chloe can sit and watch and gain weight.
ive never heard of a cryptic merle before. did some research on them and it said they are really rare.

yea i didnt either. google it and got this…
> Cryptic (phantom) merles are merles that have no visible blue or light red, yet they produce merles when bred to nonmerles. This can be quite a surprise to the breeder, when two seemingly black tris produce a litter that contains merles as well. The lack of visible blue could be because it is just very reduced in amount so that it is inconspicuous, or it could be that whatever blue there would have been has been concealed by a white marking. Sometimes only a pup’s tail is blue, so when it is docked there goes the blue! True cryptics are very rare, but their existence is documented. I have only one example of a true cryptic merle, the puppy at the bottom of the page. But all these dogs are good examples of reduction of merling to the point of approaching cryptic status.
