Vito charges an arm and a leg to do cage work. My dads buddy brought his vega to my dad and asked why it kept going to the left. So my dad brought it to his buddies shop in canada and come to find out the left side wheelbase was shorter then the right side??? Yea took his time working huh. Here is some of the work the guy my dad knows. It is a 95 neon sohc turbocharged with a 7.50 cert cage. Up next is a fiberglass one piece front end to be mounted and the fiberglass doors.

Both front and rear subframes are stripped down completely. Tomorrow i am going to begin blasting them. Then on to paint…

Spent most of my day at work today blasting suspension components. I blasted:
Rear control arms
Front Control Arms
Top Hats
Front shock tubes/knuckles
F&R Hubs
F&R subframes
Rear subframe mounting plate
I powdercoated the subframes orange (as planned) and they came out great.
Everything else is going to be powdercoated black. The differential is going to be bright green and the swaybars are powder blue. I like that the exterior of the car is fairly subtle, while the underbody is bright.
Also, before i completely blasted the rear control arms i made new spring perches and welded a backing plate on to the swaybar mount. The stock perches were fairly corroded, and while in good condition, the rear swaybar mounts are weak by design.

Lookin good, those new spring mounts are nice, especially considering how often the old ones fail. I look forward to seeing the subframe, and I grabbed my mask and underbody coating stripping tools for you.

Ok so at the risk of being slammed I say the following…
At first i was impressed by the concept of this project but Newmans apearance and reputation made me doubt it. Oh sure there were rumors claiming he is a jackass and even questioning his heterosexuality but i knew that one day the world will see a nissan powered
BMW. just didnt think it was going to be newman that would bring it to the light of day.
With that said. Im fucking impressed.
Good job on the car Newman and crew ( i skip read so I havent actually read all of the posts)
Question though. Why didnt you keep the AWD? Also what hp and tq numbers are you looking to get off of the start(before fine tuning and stuff).
Oh ya before I forget. REinforce the rear subframe mounting points as well as the mounting points for the trailing arms. If I remember correctly the old 3 series would tear apart the trailing arm mounting points with out the need for heavy engine mods. So I doubt they can handle the increase in torque provided by the huge ass toilet that you also call a turbo. Again man sweet ass project and great work.
BTW what program did you use for the design of your headers?

e36 and e46 suffer from this (even the e46 motorsport chassis) but not the e30.

Are you sure man? I could have swore there was something as far as the subframe was concenred with the E30

He’s been putting time into it every week pretty much. Car is stripped pretty good, and there’s some powdercoated stuff in the basement. Pretty sure it’s going to the balster’s soon. I look forward to the finished project, for sure.
