I was installing in my deck in my 92 and i noticed the stock harness had no black wire for the ground so i had no clue where to ground… any metal peice would be okay? Its really bugging me since my new deck will not light up. I think i have the 12v and the Ignition wire correct. I’ve never had such a problem while isntalling a deck. p.s im not using a wiring harness, im cutting anf splicing. In other words does anyone got a jpeg or a link to get this baby to turn on DK ---

the deck actually grounds when attached to the metal bracket, then the bracket to the dash bracket. fck;d me up once because I tried to test teh deck after it was wired up but not fully installed ---

I do know what you’re talking about though… crap[/quote] the deck attaches to a din pocket bracket, (cough cough I have one FS) then there is a bracket attached to the floor that this din bracket … For the time being you can find a REALLY short screw and put that into the side of the deck and just ground that to the chassis ---

yeah ur right. so i guess im still okay even if i dont have that din frame piece. isn’t the stock ground on an S13 through the antenna wire? ---

yes the antenna wire can be used to ground but i’ve been told not to rely on that as your only ground. Im jus trying to find a place to ground the aftermarket ground wire (wiring coming out of sony deck). The previous owner had cut the wires, i got screwed. I just can get this sucker to light up. By the way, the Switched 12V+ connects to the ignition wire correct? (yellow wire on sony deck) and the Constant to the Red. I’ve just observed two 10amp fuses blown from the fuse box under the dash. There is no cover therefore i have no idea what these two fuses lead to. Now i shall search for a fusebox diagram. ---

why not just replace them, and then see if it works? if the wires were bare before the grounded out and blew the fuse…happened to me too -Matt ---

compared to a 96 cavalier its flipping simple. stupid Chev put part of the ECU in the radio… you need to move the entire radio to the trunk of the car with a 12’ extension. So don’t complain ! lol ---

So don’t complain ! lol LOL, lets not even talk about a cavalier deck installatoion. me and my bro did it on his 98 z24, the whole dash had to come off with the air bag fully exposed. took us 4 hours for the entire system. ---

I can do that in 20 min. I’ve done over 150 cavaliers in my day. stupid ass cars.
