# No cams in head while torqueing?

I have done plenty of searching and come up with mixed opinions. It is a stupid question, but it could be important.
-Is it ok to torque down a head WITHOUT the cams installed?
The service manual shows it with the cams installed, but it doesn’t say anything about them needing to be installed before hand.
This is for a CA18.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Is it even possible to torque it down with the cams installed? I know it’s not in an SR… The headstuds are blocked by the camshafts.

It can be with a CA, but from your statement it is obvious that it is ok to torque it down with the cams out.
