I can’t wait to see what this does to the price of the ones that are already here.
This is assuming they get grandfathered in of course.

motorex is the only place that can properly legalize a skyline. anyone can import them, and sneak them by.
the only thing stopping other companies is the dash and door braces motorex was using. the design was not published in the crash tests. the rest of the process is well documented.

rb is the importer, not the ones legalizing them.
jk (or j&k something like that) is the one that did the testing

well if other companies wanted to import and legalize them, they should have bought a few off of motorex and stripped them
trade secrets arent REALY trade secrets if they are part of an item your selling

It would probably have more to do with paper work and the government than just copying the braces, etc…

yea, but aceing the first crash test would make it worth it
considering the cost of teh car + the work + the govt fees + crash testing fee’s ect ect …

if the piece has a patent then you cant copy it. making it more or less useless.
you want to ace the crash test? put a cage in it.

After reading for years regarding Motorex on the FreshAlloy forums, my guess they finally got busted for their questionable means of legalizing.
From Sean, a guy who helped legalize the Skylines tested but never revealed the actual specs of what is needed to do, he mentioned that they crash tested a single model (R34?) and expected that to work for across the 2 other models.
The reason why the 1995’s were legal because it has passenger airbags but is not OBD-II. Supposedly, making these street legal is very easy
The 96-98 thing is news to me 😃
