# Noob tire question?

So my wife recently traded in her 2002 jeep for a 2008 Honda Pilot and I have a question about the tires. We have a set of snows for the jeep that I would love to throw on the Pilot.
Pilot currently has 235 70R 16 tires on it.
Snow tires are 225 75R 16.
Can I use them or should I get some new tires?

According to the miata tire calc (every car guy should have this bookmarked) [http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html](http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) you’re only looking at a .3" difference in diameter. So when your speedometer says 60 you’ll actually be going 60.7. That’s nothing at all.
The tires will be a little narrower, which is good for a snow so they cut through the snow better. The only other thing to look into is weight. You say 2002 Jeep but not what Jeep. If it weights considerably less than the Pilot you’ll want to make sure the tire is rated for the weight. A Pilot isn’t exactly a small vehicle.
By comparison, my GTO’s stock tire is a 245/45/17 and I’ve run 225/45/17 snows. That put’s me off .7" in diameter, or 2.8mph @ 60.

being a truck/SUV tire the weight rating will be ok. The pilot is not a really heavy vehicle. Get them mounted up

Sweet thanks. We went from a jeep grand cherokee laredo, curb weight 3,975 to the pilot with a curb weight of 4,356.

I’m sure they’ll be fine then. I was just worried it might be a little Compass or something like that and be using passenger car rated tires.
